Start your spiritual journey
This Diwali, begin the journey within
Ashwini Guruji teaches that Diwali is a night for sadhana. Read what he has written about it, listen to two of his talks, and when you are ready, ask the team how to start.
Sadhana
Diwali, a night for sadhana
On the amavasya of Kartik, Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya, and diyas were lit in every house. Ashwini Guruji writes that this is the physical event; in the world of energy, Diwali is the night of siddhis, the homecoming of the force of Shri Vishnu.
For a sadhak, Ayodhya is the body and the lights are the siddhis, ignited through specific mantras and sadhanas in the presence of a Guru. Such a mantra must be given by your Guru and practised under the Guru's supervision.
The people of Ayodhya lit every corner, because that was the intensity with which they wanted light. Diwali is the night to bring Divinity to you.
Inner light
What is the light we seek?
The essence of Diwali lies in the shloka tamso maa jyotir gamaya: take me from darkness to light, the light of internal gyan. Its glow is what attracts the Devi home.
Ashwini Guruji writes that it is a night not to ask for more and more wealth, but to ask the Goddess for wealth and also for detachment from it, because all that is physical is nashvar (temporary). This Diwali, ask, but also give.
Guru guidance
The place of the Guru
In the Guru–Shishya parampara, gyan passes from a Guru to a Shishya. Reading opens the door; a Guru shows you how to walk through it.
You can start simply by asking. Tell us what drew you here and what you would like to learn.
Guru Vaani
Listen first
Two talks from Guru Vaani: Light & Darkness (8 minutes) and The Role Of The Guru (11 minutes). Listen, note what stays with you, and bring it when you write to us.
-
Light & Darkness
We believe we seek the light, yet unknowingly move into darkness. To choose rightly, one must first know: what is darkness? A journey to inner clarity begins.
-
The Role Of The Guru
Guru-shishya relationship is the basis of Yog:
Who is a Guru? Why does the Guru have to be in body? Why can you not have two or more Gurus? How does one find his/her Guru?
