The Real Binding Thread
Religion is nothing more to mankind than a garment is to the body. It is a cover most of us wear more out of sheer choice, knowing deep inside that once the inhibition is shed, there is no difference between one person and another.
The real binding thread though, is what has been expounded at length in the vedic texts as 'dharma'. The Rishis were great scientists. Not only did they give the world the gift of Yog but also gave us ready markers and yardsticks to help us measure the extent of evolution / devolution, whichever the case might be.

Protecting the Weak and Helpless
Protecting the weak and helpless, be it a human, an animal or even the environment.

Stand Against Injustice
Raising your voice and standing up against the wrongs / injustice / exploitation / ill-treatment of any animal, human or environment also constitutes one's Dharma.

No Empty Stomachs
No living being in the range of your naked eye should go to sleep on an empty stomach.
This includes providing medicines for those who are ill.
Creation, like anything else that is orderly, rests on certain fundamental laws which cannot be broken; the law of karma being the foremost. Even the Gods are bound by this law and no one is over it.
The modern man who insists on his superiority over nature and who foolishly tries to defy the laws of nature to create a utopian world for himself is stuck in the spiral of devolution. The result is visible if you look at today's youth who wear thick glasses, have bent spines, have grey hair, have improper digestion, addiction towards machines and have an artificial life. Why?
