Cattle in the way: India, Bangladesh trades smuggling charges
Speaking to TOI from West Bengal, SS Guleria, DIG South Bengal Frontier said, in the past couple of years, BSF has been successful in bringing down the numbers of cattle smuggled — “we now give the cows to an NGO, Dhyan Foundation, which rehabilitates them in gaushalas in West Bengal and Jharkhand.”

"The BSF took care of the seized cattle with the help of NGOs... The drop in cattle seizures has also coincided with the drop in attacks on BSF personnel by smugglers. From 103 injuries to BSF personnel in 2015, the figure has dropped to just 63 in 2021."
