Kaivalyapaad, Yogsutra 4.18
Patanjali now establishes the chitta as distinct from the Purush,
सदा ज्ञाताश् चित्तवृत्तयस् तत्प्रभो: पुरुषस्यापरिणामित्वात् ॥ ४.१८ ॥
sadaa gyaataash chittavrttayas tatprabhoh purushasyaaparinaamitvaat || 4.18 ||
sadaa – always
gyaataa – being aware
chitta – mind
vrittayas – modifications
tat – of that (chitta)
prabhoh – master
purushasya – Purush
aparinaamitvaat – it is immutable, hence
Sinch the Purush is immutable, hence this master of the chitta, is forever aware of the vrittis that plague the chitta.
