Coincidence or Similarity?

By Mannat Sharma

Many ancient cultures believed that the universe is not silent but alive with sound. According to Vedic Sciences, Creation came into existence from the sound of Bhagwan Mahadev's damru. This sound is linked to Om, which is considered the most powerful vibration, and which includes all the sounds of the creation. What is interesting is, the concept of 'Sound as the basis of Universe' existed across many ancient civilizations of the world.

Ancient Egypt: In Egypt, sound was believed to bridge the physical and spiritual realms, with "hekau" (magical words) holding the vibrational frequency of creation.

Ancient Greece: Greek philosophers, believed in the "Music of the Spheres," suggesting that celestial bodies move according to mathematical ratios; corresponding to musical notes and creating a harmonious cosmic symphony.

Abrahamic Traditions: The Book of Genesis speaks of God creating the universe through speech ("And God said, Let there be light"). Similarly, the Gospel of John begins with, "In the beginning was the Word," equating the Divine word with the Creator.

Sumerian and Babylonian: According to Enuma Elish, the universe emerges by command and sacred utterance. Sound precedes matter formation.

Chinese Taoism: This also tells that Creation emerges from subtle vibration of Tao.

Mayan Civilisation: According to Popol Vuh, Creation occurs when Gods speak the world into existence.

Japanese: According to many Japanese interpretations, sounds produced by the movement of particles caused them to coalesce, create light and then solid matter, with sound serving as the foundational element.

Australian Aboriginal Cultures: They speak of the "Dreamtime" or "Dreaming," where ancestral spirits created the land through song, music and voice.

Even modern science confirms this through Big Bang Theory and String Theory. According to Big Bang Theory the universe began as a primordial vibration and Cosmic sound wave. According to the String Theory, everything is vibrating strings of energy.

Thus, the concept of 'Sound as the Basis of the Universe' across civilisations, many of which had no contact with each other—show a shared, deep observation of nature and how humanity perceived reality rather than it being a mere coincidence. Don't you agree with this?
