Unravelling the Secrets of Creation with Mantras

Chandogya Upanishad (1.3.1) equates Sun to the Udgatri (chanter of Udgitha or Om). If you hear the sound of the Sun, you cannot miss its resemblance to the sound of Om. A lecturer in Australia made a frequency chart of the sound of Sun as recorded by NASA and the chant of Om and the graphs coincided beautifully (see link https://youtu.be/kRqy7RXV_wc).

Creation began with sound of Om, and this emanated from damru of Bhagwan Shiv, said the Vedic masters. Now consider this, the stars when they are born and when they die are observed to have a nebula around them…the shape of this nebula they call as hourglass, and we recognise as the damru. If you hear the sounds of the Hourglass Nebula MYCN 18 and the Vellar Pulsar, you will be amazed to find out that it resembles the soft and the fast beat of the damru. At Dhyan Foundation we mapped the chant of Om using the Mantra Scanner, and it formed the image of a damru.

If you put your ear to anything, you will hear a sound. There is a specific sound to everything in the universe just as everything has a specific colour, which denotes its unique frequency. Hence sound affects matter/physical. As you progress in Sanatan Kriya, you can actually see the effect of different sounds on your body. Our ancestors and Vedic masters were well aware of this and understood the science of sound based on dhwani and its effects on physical. They coded them as mantras and categorised these mantras based on their purpose, one of which was healing the body.

Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto and Frenchman Fabien Maman conducted research which confirmed that sound alters the state of cells and hence finds application in healing sciences. Maman reports the progressive destabilisation and eventual explosion of cancer cells on playing sounds that progressed up the musical scale. Dr. Emoto and his team captured the changes in the water crystals of a badly polluted lake in Japan before and after speaking aloud an affirmation of peace and gratitude. The water crystals changed from a cloudy and distorted image before the prayer to beautiful, geometric crystals after the prayer. If the effect of simple prayers in the experiments described above is this, imagine the effect of mantras which are codified energies…

Every mantra corresponds to specific divine energy and has a specific effect on the body and environment, depending on the qualities of that energy. For example, the Shri Maha Mrityunjai Mantra forms a part of the Mritsanjeevani Vidya given by Shukracharya to revive the dead. Shri Maha Mrityunjai Mantra directly affects the energy channels (nadis) in the body. Any imbalance in the body first sets into the nadis and then shows signs in the physical body. This mantra removes the imbalance at the level of the nadis itself, preventing the disease from setting into the body.

However, for a mantra to have the right effect, it is important to perfect its chant and intonations under the guidance of a Guru, who is siddha in the mantra. Faulty pronunciation of even a single alphabet changes the entire meaning. Taittiriya Samhita narrates the story of Tvashta in this regard. Tvashta performed a sacrifice to destroy Indra. He used the mantra, 'indrashatru' to manifest his thought. However, he placed a lofty note on the word 'indra' instead of 'shatru' because of which the meaning of the word changed from 'slayer of indra' to 'the one who will be slain by indra' and thus the son, Vrutra, so born to him was defeated by Indra, just because of a pronunciation defect…
