FERTILITY FACTS- IVF, TEST TUBE BABIES AND SURROGACY IN ANCIENT TIMES!

MAHABHARAT IVF, 6000+ YEARS AGO:

The Mahabharat lists 100 Kauravas and one daughter, who were born to Gandhari and Dhritrashtra. Gandhari, was pregnant for nearly two years. The epic describes Ghandhari as having a prolonged gestation, after which she gave birth to a lump of immovable flesh. Prolonged gestation is documented in modern medical records and can be due to a variety of causes. The record of the longest pregnancy is 375 days. Gandhari's story did not end with a still birth. According to the instructions of Rishi Vyasa, the foetus was divided into a hundred pieces, which were put in jars to which ghee (clarified butter) was added and incubated. Finally, 101 children were born, one by one.

This is described exactly like artificial incubation of embryos outside the womb; comparable to IVF or test-tube babies, with multiple pregnancies that commonly occur with it.

• Birth of Bhagwan Krishna's brother Balaram ji

Embryo transfer/Surrogacy. The foetus of Balaram ji was transferred from Mata Devaki's womb (to save him from Kans, his maternal uncle) into the womb of Rohini. This is identical to modern embryo transfer techniques used in IVF and surrogacy.

• Birth of Sage Agastya & Sage Vasishta

From the seed of Mitra-Varuna and apsara Urvashi, children were born in a kumbha (pitcher/jar). Sage Agastya and Sage Vasishta are said to have been born this way. This is another description of incubation outside the mother's womb.

These examples from Mahabharata and Puranas suggest knowledge of-IVF (In-vitro fertilization); Test-tube baby methods.
