Stotra means flow, something which is flowing. Stotra Is a flow expression of emotion and love towards the deity, flow to form a connection with that deity. Stotras have the ability to hold Pran inside the body.
To establish the flow and connection is possible only with Guru. Only when we have Guru Bhaav, the energy flows and experiences follow. Guru’s role is prime.

The Role of the Guru
The Role of the Guru
Yog starts and ends at Guru’s feet. While holding Guru’s hand, miracles are a common phenomenon; not to be understood but to be experienced.
It requires a force - a guiding light to take you through those experience. Only Guru can. Guru mahima is Anant (unending), akhand (expansive) - it is not possible to sum up even a fraction of it in limited time and space.
Learn the difference in doing the task yourself and submitting to the force of Guru. Former is limited, latter Unlimited.
Guru blesses us with the capacity, energy, resources and opportunities to perform our karma, so we may evolve. At the time, we may think that we are doing great work, the truth is, it is happening through us, by the Guru.
When stotra is done professionally, all the above is missing, experiences are missing as Guru is missing, hence it cannot be done professionally.
