Sutra 2
yogah chitta vritti nirodhah
Translation: Yog is the stilling/blocking of modifications of chitta/mind
The human body has a brain which is controlled by the mind, which can be called the Chitta. The Chitta
can be assumed as a connection with the Divine. The level of purity of the Chitta
gives us our desires and also our course in life.
The purer the Chitta, the selfless the desires.
Vrittis, which are the various ways in which the mind distracts us, or to say, because of the impurities of the soul and based on its karmas, the vrittis
are weaker or strong.
The practice of yog blocks the vrittis
from the mind and purifies the connection with the Divine, avidya
is banished and reality dawns.
