"When a guru
accepts somebody as a shishya he takes complete responsibility of
his or her. Then the shishya is monitored by the Guru not daily,
not hourly, but every moment… the Guru literally carries the
shishya on this path" - Yogi Ashwini
As no two fingerprints are the same, as no two genetic codes are
the same, so are no two beings the same. Understanding and realising
this fact the rishis of the Vedic era propagated the Guru-shishiya-parampara,
or the one-to-one relationship of the shishya with the Guru. And
this is what is followed at Dhyan Foundation, under the guiding
light of the Guru, Yogi Ashwini.
In the Rudryamala it is said, ‘The fool who commences japa
and tapas by reading books instead of receiving instructions from
the Guru acquires nothing but sin; no one can save him. The Guru
alone can, in a single moment, destroy the mass of his sins….’
The path of yoga or any other sadhna cannot be traversed without
a Guru. It should also be understood that the Guru is not a physical
being or a physical form but the embodiment of the ultimate Guru
who assumes a human form to guide us though the journey of yoga.
"The guru cannot come to you, you
have to come to the guru; otherwise the art will lose its efficacy."
- Yogi Ashwini
Yogi Ashwini is perhaps the only practitioner of the ancient
sciences of yoga who, despite living in the material world, is following
the principles of yoga as were laid out thousands of years back
without any modifications or dilutions. A rare phenomena in the
modern day world where he has kept the practice of this divine science
away from the influence of the commercial.
He was initially a ‘Pranic Healing’ teacher and has
also been associated with various Himalayan Masters. He spent some
time alone in silence for a while, doing his practices and helping
others around him. The sublimating effect he had on others eventually
saw the informal birth of the Dhyan Foundation.
Yogiji teaches as per the ‘Guru Shishya Parampara’ where
no fee is charged. When asked, Yogiji says, “I have not been
able to assess the value of what I’m teaching… source
of this knowledge is only one…I’m just a channel…everyone
who comes to me…this knowledge flows as per the individual’s
entitlements, so what should I charge?”
For him only that being can step on the path of sadhna who is ready
to help others around. Service, charity, serious and regular practice,
and teaching others are some of his expectations from his disciples.
Yogiji does not believe in bookish knowledge or the knowledge of
someone else’s experience. He strictly believes that each
person’s journey is his/her own experience that benchmarks
one’s progress with the guidance of the Guru. “Progress
is imminent if these practices are done in the right manner,”
says Yogiji. Which is why he does not believe in mass following
and is contented with working on only those who are ready to walk
with him on this path of sadhna.
Yogiji believes and preaches that if the practice of yoga is correct,
then the pleasures will chase the being and not the other way round.
The above, Yogiji proves in his daily lifestyle.
