| Service Initiatives |
| One of the five yamas in the Ashtanga yoga translates as charity. Selfless charity and service is termed as one of the most effective purification techniques in ancient Vedic texts, that makes one eligible for higher practices. Charity is usually seen as giving something to the needy. While doing so it is important however to keep in mind that it is not ‘you’ who is giving, you are just a channel. Thus, the simplest way to define charity is to do something for someone without expecting anything in return for it.
Now the question arises, does charity need always be in monetary terms? Charity need not be with money; charity can be kind words; helping someone; teaching, blessing someone, it can even be something as simple as a smile if someone needs that, at that moment, without expecting anything in return. It is any act of helping someone without any direct benefit to you. Your work is only to do your karma and forget about it....
That’s why the Foundation focuses on social service activities and its members volunteer for either one or more of such activities. Also, we feel it is our responsibility to create various avenues so that you can contribute in many different ways that suit your aptitude and your ability to share.
Opportunities for you
One such activity is dedicated purely towards emotionally, physically, financially, and mentally challenged children. You can come forward and sponsor these children and make a difference in their lives.
- You can sponsor one or more child in Anand Vidyalayas or give a general sponsorship, which will then be directed towards these children’s requirements.
- In case you are interested in a direct interaction you can teach the children at Anand Vidyalaya: academics, arts, music, or even take them for picnics or educational trips.
- You can develop educational aids for our school students while sitting at home.
- To help the really impoverished sections of society you can get involved in the simple task of feeding the poor by joining an on going langar or start one in your area.
- You can even volunteer to orgainse workshops in your area and manage that centre with our support.
- Those who want better visibility of their products or shops can even advertise in the `The Inner World’, which is available at leading bookstores.

Charity brings hope not for today but even tomorrow
Hunger, dirty water, and easily preventable diseases steal a child’s future. But, when these specific causes like poverty and illiteracy are identified, lifesaving transformation becomes a reality. Dhyan Foundation works with volunteers to provide abandoned, poor street children and their families’ sustainable access to life's most basic necessities - health, education, creative arts, sports.
Sponsorship is the most powerful way to fight poverty
Sponsorship brings lifesaving changes to more than just 1 child - it extends to your child’s family, community, and other children in poverty.
Dhyan Foundation is a charitable organization that works alongside local communities to find transformational solutions to poverty that can bring about a change in the future of the child.
